Welfare issues: Bobby teeth extraction

Previous  |  Welfare Index  |   Next

These five teeth were extracted from the very back of the mouth of a 30 year old shetland pony who was unable to eat, as these teeth had grown so long his other teeth could not meet. He was in great pain as the sharp points on some of these teeth were puncturing the opposite gums where teeth had already been lost. Without dental intervention this pony would have died a slow, lingering and painful death.
